Brighten up your bedroom this summer!

We all know how fickle the summer weather can be but when the sun is shining it changes the way we look at everything. When the sun came out it made my bedroom look like a deep, dark cave of despair and was in a massive need of brightening up.
Unfortunately, a complete Changing Rooms style makeover was just completely off the cards because alas, not only had I run out of MDF, but I’m also short on cash at the moment (aren’t we all?) which makes life a little more difficult.
So, it’s down to changing the basics in my bedroom for an instant update. The easiest way to inject some colour is to get some fresh new bedding, preferably in a bright summery colour of perhaps something nature inspired with an on-trend floral print – I’ve opted for some new white bedding with large green flower/plant print which adds a funky feel to the room.
Curtains can also be a great way to brighten up a room and I love waking up in the morning and knowing that it’s sunny so blackout blinds are a no-go for me. Instead I’ve chosen some lined white curtains with a floral hem detail, that fall all the way to the floor. It makes my bedroom feel a little more glamorous and it’s lighter in the mornings too.
Add some gorgeous scents to your room with some pretty summer flowers from the garden which should finish off your whole ‘summer’ theme nicely. I’ve even got some rose scented candles for that extra summery touch! Ditch the paint this summer and go for pure aesthetics to give your bedroom a summer boost.
