Greenhouse Kits 101

Posted By on February 23, 2011

greenhouse kits offer a fast, economical method of getting that greenhouse built than gathering the materials yourself, prepping for construction and finally, building the greenhouse.

The greenhouse kit contains materials prepped for construction and shouldn’t require special tools. They’re designed with the homeowner in mind and except for the more complex or one requiring a concrete frame can be assembled in six hours or less, depending, of course, on size.

Frames are made of steel, wood, plastic or aluminum. There are benefits of each but if you have a storage shed or other outbuilding, you might consider a greenhouse kit with a frame that blends with the shed and/or your home.

The walls for kits are Polycarbonate, though a high-density polyethylene may be seen for some very small greenhouses. The Polycarbonate has a UV protective layer to provide softer, diffused sunlight to your plants.

The size of your greenhouse may be dictated by your available space and budget, but if you have options, consider the amount of room you might require to move around within the house. Also, some come with double entry doors for wide loads like wheelbarrows.

Greenhouse kits get you growing plants without spending days over construction.
